Fabric Comparison
Rotary Products provides you with a choice of covering materials for your dock door equipment. All coverings are flame tested to meet federal standards and exceed most tensile and tear strength requirements.
What type of covering material you chose may depend a great deal on the type of use your dock door equipment is going to have. Rotary offers various combinations of 22 oz. vinyl, 40 oz. vinyl, 40 oz High Tear Duroprene and 40 oz. Hypalon.
Many of our customers specify that we use the 40 oz. Hypalon coverings because it is thought to be the "toughest", most durable covering material on the market. This choice is based on an industry-wide recommendation by many architects that design their buildings. Rotary is concerned that this recommendation is taken for granted or goes unquestioned because, after all, the architects know what is needed. But, do they?
In the photos above are examples of the 40 oz. Hypalon and High-tear Duroprene materials that we use as a demonstration at trade shows. Both pieces have been precut to start a "tear". We asked visitors to our booth to pull on both samples with all their might to see how much damage they can do to the samples. Our demonstrations always have the same results as you can tell in the photos. The Hypalon continues to tear quite easily, the Duroprene resists tearing past the point where it was cut. In fact we are sure some people that tried this demonstration are still trying to "rip" the Duroprene samples that we passed out long ago. If you're looking for the "toughest" covering, which would you choose?
Our recommended covering is the 40 oz. high-tear Duroprene. Because of the type of construction the high-tear Duroprene is more tear resistant than other types of covering materials. The chart below shows the durability and cost savings of the high-tear Duroprene vs. 40 oz. Hypalon. As you can see, in addition to its durability, Duroprene is more cost effective!
Make sure you are getting the best quality for your investment.
